Motte & Bailey House

Residential

The conceptual design of this contemporary residence is inspired by a grand English castle. Stone and wood were used as the primary materials, extrapolated from the traditional stone and timber of medieval castles. The highlight of this home is the elongated entryway – “the bridge”.

The home incorporates many levels and look-over features and is a study in solid/void interplay. Layered stone planes simulate the layered stone walls of fortification. We designed the home with a focus on the family’s desire for entertaining and incorporated an enchanting roof top garden.
